Music for the Grieving Soul

Music is healing for those of us who are experiencing the loss of our beloved child. I hope you will find these selections help and comfort you. Music for Grieving souls:

Alan Pedersen is a bereaved father who began writing songs after the death of his daughter Ashley. He has performed at the National Compassionate Friends Conference and gave a performance in Arlington sponsored by the Arlington Chapter of TCF. Samples of his music can be heard on the CD Baby website.

Paul Alexander who has performed at many of the TCF conferences, can be heard on CD Baby. Paul wrote a beautiful song, "Light a Candle for Me" that has been played often at Compassionate Friends candle light services. 

 

 

 

Before Their Time is a wonderful site put together by a bereaved father. There are now three volumes of songs and you can listen to mp3 samples. The songs are all by different artists and cover all types of grief. It is a beautiful collection.

Cindy Bullens' song, "Somewhere Between Heaven and Earth" is on Volume II of "Before Their Time." Cindy is a rock singer who created one of the most incredible albums growing out of her personal grief after death of her daughter to cancer titled "Somewhere between Heaven and Earth." She was the highlight of the 2001 TCF Conference in Arlington, Virginia. The conference goers were blown away by her powerful performance. You can listen to samples from this album on Amazon.com.

 

Beth Nielson Chapman, after the death of her husband, wrote the songs on her CD "Sand and Water." The songs "Sand and Water" and "Say Goodnight" are recommended for Candlelight services. You can hear samples of the CD on Amazon.com. It is a beautiful albumn.

Eric Anthony has written a beautiful song titled "Playing With The Angels." Click here to hear a sample.

 

Getting Through It is a CD of wonderful songs of bereavement including a rendition of Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven." You can listen to samples on this website. The interesting thing about this website is the biographical information about the songs and the artists.

Jeanine Higgins, a bereaved mother, performed her beautiful music at the 2001 TCF National Conference in Arlington, Virginia. She has a powerful CD titled, "Into the Sun." This is available from Amazon.com and Target.com. [Be sure to sign up for iGive through the TCF National Website to order from Target!] You can hear some clips from the CD on Yahoo! Music .

Karen Taylor-Good, whose song, "Precious Child," was first played at the 1996 TCF Conference in Nashville, and has become one of the most beloved grief songs of bereaved parents, has made three of her songs available for free downloads including "Precious child." Listen to it here. Karen's CD, "On Angel's Wings" also has "Precious Child."

Ralph Robinson, after the death of his son, put together a beautiful CD called "Follow the Wind, Songs for Stained Souls." This is available through The Compassionate Friends, but no sample is available.

Steve Barta Music has a CD entitled "Together We Can Heal" where you can listen to some of the music. Very soothing and healing selections.
